O2 Glove
BACKCOUNTRY ATHLETES
There has been an increase in the popularity of backcountry fun. People are turning away from the crowded resorts and heading to the backcountry, causing more lives to be lost to avalanches. In the winter season of 2020-2021, the Colorado Avalanche Information Center recorded that the U.S. had suffered 36 deaths from avalanches, the most in 11 years
The Design
The O2 glove gives athletes a better chance of survival if caught in an avalanche. Giving rescue teams more time to find the person that is buried. Since athletes are trained to cover their faces when caught in an avalanche the product seeks to combine live saving technology with avalanche training practices.
The product supplies oxygen through the mouth piece and sucks CO2 from the nose piece, so that the athlete’s breath does cause ice to form around their face.
